Buchan Combined Heat and Power Ltd are proposing to build a Residual Waste to Energy Combined Heat and Power Plant at the Upperton Industrial Estate in Peterhead. |
The plant would be fuelled by un-recyclable non-hazardous domestic, commercial and industrial waste from the Aberdeenshire area and provide a more environmentally sustainable method of disposing of residual waste that will help to meet the new EEC landfill diversion targets. The plant would produce both heat and electricity, which would be transferred for use by existing and new local businesses and be available for future domestic heating schemes. Once operational the plant will require 25 new employees. An Environmental Impact Assessment is being undertaken to assess the potential environmental effects of the proposal. The results of this assessment will be published in an Environmental Statement that will accompany an application for planning permission to Aberdeenshire Council. We consider public consultation to be a critical part of the project development process and we are keen to hear local views on our plans. This website provides information about the proposal and is a way for us to hear your views via comments posted on the contacts page. |
