Seven Stories

Seven Stories is the National Centre for Children’s Books. There is always lots to do – with unique exhibitions, engaging storytellers, visiting authors and fun activities for all ages. We branded the exhibition ‘Where Your Wings Were’ and artist trail ‘Winged Tails of the North Trail’, part of the Great Exhibition of the North 2018, for Seven Stories. The exhibition showcases the Carnegie Medal winning children’s author David Almond. We designed an identity using hand-painted wings filled with imagery for each poster whereby when placed together the posters form an elegant pair of wings.

We were really impressed with the artwork created for Where Your Wings Were… Journeys with David Almond and Winged Tales of the North. The designs worked well as a pair and also independently from one another, which was a really important requirement of the brief as the exhibition and trail would be promoted separately and were on different timescales. Contemporary, striking and strong; the designs felt like a fresh and exciting new direction for Seven Stories and generated a lot of interest and engagement on our social media channels.
